The crew formed in Boston in 1981 and went on to become a professional dance troupe, creating a show called Floorlore that incorporated the elements of hip hop, such as MC-ing, breakdancing, graffiti, and beatboxing, with a multicultural approach to dance that draws on elements of meringue, capoeira, martial arts, and African dance. The group also helped expand the popularity of hip hop, partially through their television appearances on shows such as LIVE: WITH REGIS AND KATHIE LEE and THE DONAHUE SHOW. For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story (DVD)
Andy Garcia stars as world-renowned Cuban trumpet player Arturo Sandoval in this moving portrait of his life in Cuba, his passion for jazz, and his eventual defection from his homeland in 1990. A passionate free thinker, Arturo struggled for personal and creative freedom in Cuban, experiencing a lifetime of artistic persecution. A musical virtuoso, Sandoval lived to play his own brash brand of jazz, inspired by his mentor and longtime friend, American jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie (Charles S.Dutton). Ultimately, Arturo's love for his wife, Mariela (Mia Maestro), and his growing family forced him to stay in Cuba, constantly compromising his artistic freedom for the revolution. Finally, in...

Directing Actors
Directing Actors is a method for establishing collaborative relationships with actors, getting the most out of rehearsals, recognizing and fixing poor performances, and developing your actors' creativity. Ms. Weston discusses what constitutes a good performance, what actors want from a director, what directors do wrong, script analysis and preparation, how actors work, and the director/actor relationship. This book, based on the author's twenty years of professional acting and eight years of teaching Acting for Directors, is the first book to directly address film and television directors about working with actors. Contains both a Bibliography and an Index. After living on movie sets for over fifteen years, Judith's class opened a door for me to an aspect of that creative process about which I had never really been aware -- acting. -- Ron Judkins, Production Sound Mixer, Jurassic Park, Sehindler's List
